101 British labor deputies call tax on game companies to combat the poverty of children
More than 100 labor deputies in the United Kingdom have signed a letter calling on the government to increase taxes on game societies to reduce the poverty of children.
The representatives again show their support for the action led by former Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who amplified the proposals set by the Research Institute on Public Policy (IPPR).
The message sent to the Chancellor, Rachel Reeves, is that taxes on the game must be hiked in the next fall budget changes.
Today, 101 Labor deputies have written the letter, initiated by Alex Ballinger and Beccy Cooper from the Multipartite Parliamentary Group on the Reformation of the Game, to solve the critical social problem of children’s poverty.
The signatories insist that there is a “convincing case” to introduce a “targeted levy on harmful online gaming products”, the funds collected to end the two-children’s service ceiling in the United Kingdom.
It is a policy that prevents parents from claiming a children’s tax credit or universal support for more than two children.
The IPPR claims that the end ceiling will immediately raise 500,000 poverty children, just through the United Kingdom.
No child should grow in poverty while online game companies make record profits – and many avoid paying VAT.

The British government has urged to increase taxes on the game in November
To achieve this, the deputies support the IPPR calls to increase taxes on game companies, in particular on the gross playing performance (GGR). This is the surplus raised by Paris companies once returns paid to customers.
Rachel Reeves has difficult decisions to come, with new reductions expected in November, as well as tax increases in certain regions, so that many in the Labor Party believe that this decision makes sense.
The 101 signatories of the letter represent almost half of the total number of deputies of working back work, which will exert pressure on the government to act.

Dr. Beccy Cooper, Labor MP for Worthing West and president of the Appg game reform, said in a statement:

“An online game tax is fair, neutral and in accordance with the Chancellor’s budgetary rules. The government can show that it takes social justice and budgetary responsibility seriously by acting decisively in the budget ”.
Flutter Entertainment (owner of Paddy Power, Fanduel), Endain (Ladbrokes, Betmgm) and Bet365 are the three biggest heavyweights in the United Kingdom.
These companies and many others are represented by the Council of Paris and Games, which provided Gordon Brown and the IPPR on their proposals.
The organization has stressed that its members contribute to around 6.8 billion pounds to the economy, generating 4 billion pounds of tax sterling and underlying 109,000 jobs in the country.
He warned that the “economically reckless” plan would push players to the underground market.
