6.1 The earthquake of magnitude rock the turkey, the buildings which collapse

On Sunday, an earthquake of amplitude of 6.1 struck the northwest province of Balikesir on Sunday, causing a dozen buildings, said an official. At least two people were trapped in the debris of a collapsed building.
The earthquake, with an epicenter in the city of Sindirgi, sent shocks that felt about 200 kilometers in Istanbul, a city of more than 16 million people.
Sindirgi mayor Serkan Sak told Hoberturk that four people had been saved from a collapsed city building while rescuers were trying to reach two other people in the structure.
Several houses have also collapsed in the neighboring village of Golcuk, he said. The minaret of a mosque also dropped in the village.
The Turkey’s disaster and emergency management agency said the earthquake had been followed by several aftershocks, including one measuring 4.6, and urged citizens not to enter the damaged buildings.
Turkey is above the main fault lines and earthquakes are frequent.
In 2023, an earthquake of amplitude of 7.8 killed more than 53,000 people in Turkey and destroyed or damaged hundreds of thousands of buildings in 11 provinces in the South and Southeast. 6,000 other people were killed in the northern regions of neighboring Syria.
