Mount of “Star Trek” Star Anson studied the bands Gene Roddenberry for his tribute “Strange New World”

While Io9 had mixed feelings on the episode of last week Star Trek: Strange new worldsOne thing about “A Space Adventure Hour who worked well was his happy Hollywood recreation from the 1960s. With a little chaotic Holodck help, the story has seen similarities in the main distribution acting a mystery of murder behind the scenes of a show that looked very much like the original Star Trekwith a cheesy creator which is clearly a stand-in for Hikingis the own Roddenberry gene.
Admitting that the effort was both a parody and a tribute, the director Jonathan Frakes spoke of the way in which he and the actor Anson Mount – whose character, the captain Pike, appears in the simulation as the “tk bellows” of Roddenberry – worked in the life of science fiction.
Addressing Variety, Frakes recalled his work experiences with Roddenberry The next generation helped to shed light on Mount’s performance. “I had the privilege of working with Gene for three or four years before her death,” said Frakes. “Anson and I started to really look at Gene, and he asked me to get tapes that I was able to follow from the Roddenberry association. We were really by doing Gene, but I think that (executive producers) Akiva (Goldsman) and Henry (Alonso Myers) wanted us to think of it too hard. “
Strange new worlds Costume designer Bernadette Croft echoed the initial idea of not looking too hard, but said Mount was enthusiastic about pushing a little. “Anson was like,” let’s make a belly, let’s really look into the suede jacket. (Roddenberry) was this bookish intellectual, but in a way turned, like a snake cut if he were in a bad mood or if someone crossed him.
As the Frakes come, “we found ourselves in a wonderful place where Anson created a character who, for the best or for the worst, anyone who knew him could see Gene. The voice is specifically brilliant, physicity is therefore not Pike. Everyone had a ball playing in another part of his toolbox.”
Head to Variety to find out more behind the scenes of Frakes, including the “Ham School” socket by Paul Wesley on William Shatner. New episodes of Star Trek: Strange new worlds Arrive Thursdays on Paramount +.
