The political field seemed familiar: the country is in crisis. The government must reduce immigration, suppress crime, abandon green energy targets and reopen factories to “make Great Britain again large”. The words of Nigel Farage to the two -day annual agreement of the British reform party which finished on Saturday echoed the themes that propelled US President Donald Trump to the White House. Farage, the veteran politician hard on the right, hopes that a similar strategy can make him the Prime Minister – an idea formerly judicious that allies and adversaries take seriously.
