Kennedy’s sister, Kerry Kennedy, and her nephew, Joseph P. Kennedy III, published scathing statements on Friday, the appellant to resign the head of the Department of Health and Social Services.

This is not the first time that Kennedy has been the subject of his family’s anger. Several of his relatives had opposed his presidential race during the last campaign, while others wrote to the senators earlier this year, calling them to reject his appointment to be Trump’s health secretary due to points of view that they considered the vital vaccines disqualifying.

Kennedy, a long-standing leader in the anti-vaccine movement, has spent the last seven months to implement its basic and niche movement at the highest level of the American public health system. The radical changes to agencies in charge of public health and scientific research policy led to thousands of layoffs and the overhaul of vaccine directives.

The movements – some of which contradict the insurance he made during his confirmation hearings – shaken medical groups and officials in several states led by Democrats, who responded with their own vaccination advice.
