US President Donald Trump will soon be an unprecedented second state visit to the United Kingdom.

Trump, who will be accompanied by his wife Melania, was organized by the late Queen Elizabeth II in June 2019.

What is a state visit?

A state visit is an official trip to the United Kingdom by the head of a country. They are generally organized at the invitation of the monarch, acting on government councils.

In addition to being special occasions with a lot of ceremonies, governments use visits to future the interests of Great Britain.

Traditionally, American presidents serving a second term – like Trump – are not offered a state visit. Instead, they are invited for tea or lunch with the monarch, as happened with former presidents Barack Obama and George W Bush.

However, in February, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer gave Trump an invitation from King Charles III during a White House meeting to discuss a British-American trade agreement. Sir Keir said that the invitation was “really historic” and “unprecedented”.

Trump said it was a “big, great honor”.

When is Donald Trump’s visit to the United Kingdom?

Donald and Melania Trump will arrive in the United Kingdom on Tuesday, September 16 and will leave on Thursday, September 18.

King Charles will welcome the president and first lady of the castle of Windsor on Wednesday and Thursday.

The trip occurs two months after the president spent four days in Scotland, where he met politicians and visited his golf courses.

What will Trump do during the state visit?

Upon arrival in the United Kingdom, the Trumps will be met by American ambassador Warren Stephens. The hood of Viscount, Lord pending, will welcome them on behalf of the king.

Wednesday, they will go to the castle of Windsor where they will be welcomed by the prince and the princess of Wales, before being officially welcomed by the king and the queen. A royal greeting will be pulled to Windsor and the Tower of London.

After lunch, the president will visit the St George chapel in Windsor to put a crown on the tomb of Queen Elizabeth II.

Later, there will be a flypast by military planes in the United Kingdom and the United States F-35 and the red arrows.

On Wednesday evening, a traditional state banquet will take place at the castle, during which the king and the president will pronounce speeches.

Thursday, the president will go to the ladies to meet the Prime Minister.

They will see the archives of Sir Winston Churchill before holding a meeting and a press conference.

Melania Trump will remain at the Windsor castle where she will visit the royal library and see the house of Queen Mary dolls, a famous miniature palace built in the 1920s.

Ms. Trump will then meet the chief Scout Dwayne Fields with Catherine, who is a joint president of the Scout Association.

She will then join her husband with the ladies before returning to the United States.

The latest details on the equipment and staff accompanying President Trump’s second state visit have not yet been confirmed.

Trump arrived in the United Kingdom for his 2019 state visit to the Personalized Boeing 747-200B plane known as Air Force One.

The presidential procession – including two identical limousines nicknamed the beast and other security and communication vehicles – has been transported by US transport aircraft.

During the 2019 visit, more than 6,300 police officers were deployed at a cost at the London metropolitan police of 3.4 million pounds sterling.

The Stop Trump coalition provides a “Trump Not Welcome” demonstration in London on Wednesday, September 17.
