After the virtual boy, there is no reason why Nintendo cannot bring his best laptop back

Nintendo does not normally leave fans in its material plans, but if you are the type of person to identify trends, it is clear that the Switch 2 will become the console all the Mario Maker. Nintendo began to offer more material specifically suitable for reading its old missing consoles. The next inevitable step is that the company allows us to return to its most popular pocket computer, the Nintendo DS.

Today, Nintendo decided that it was time to bring back what is probably his least popular game equipment he has ever published. The $ 100 virtual boy for Switch 2 brings back the first use by Nintendo of stereoscopic visuals and the strange bipod mounted helmet to play them. This modernized system is a relic – an explosion of the past – which uses the portable equipment of the switch as a screen. While Nintendo regularly publishes new controllers for its Nintendo Classics list of the NES until the last revitalized GameCube controller, it is the first instance of a specific device to feel authentic – as if you are returned to 1995 and play the strange 3D console for the first time.

While the virtual boy was the least sold console of Nintendo never sold – managed to move 770,000 units of his life – the best -selling device in the company is still MIA from the list of classics of Nintendo. The Nintendo DS was launched for the first time in 2004 but succeeded in the DS Lite in 2006. During its lifespan, Nintendo sold 154 million units. The best -selling system for the company, the original switch, has sold 153.10 million.

In 2023, Nintendo filed a patent to the American patent office which gave us an overview of the way a device supposed with a large screen could be fixed to a laptop. Last month, Mike Odyssey on X spotted that Nintendo had updated the patent for 2025. The attached screen would be positioned at an “inclined”, according to the patent, and will not describe a hinge system for the upper screen to fall back on the hand of the hand, so this attachment should be deleted and transported separately if you had change 2 on the road.

Patents do not suggest that a company will really make the product, only they explore ideas and want to protect them. Even if Nintendo works on a supplementary double -screen module for Switch 2, this does not necessarily mean that the finished product would look like this proposed design. Now that Nintendo has gone up to 30 years in its strangest console, it opens the possibility of removing the clock with each body of its past equipment. The only missing room, beyond Wii and Wii U (at least Super Mario Galaxy Gets another remaster) is the Nintendo DS and the less popular 3DS.

Nintendo must beat the emulators

The Switch 2 has more capacity for these peripherals thanks to its USB-C USB-C ports. An evolution towards more Retro Switch 2 peripherals is more logical when you understand why Nintendo continues to publish its classic library for commuting owners. Retro emulators, which recreate older consoles as software, are increasingly popular with the generation of players who grew up with older Nintendo consoles. Nintendo is also one of the rare societies which is very hard against emulation in its crusade to fight against hacking and protect its intellectual property. Nintendo has eliminated several emulators from switches, including Ryujinx, Citra, and – in particular, Yuzu. Nintendo has bothered the GameCube emulator dolphin from a full version on Steam. The company offers its own emulation via its list of Nintendo Classics as an alternative to the legion of players who jumped on the booming retro pocket scene.

And it couldn’t come early enough. While players have too many choices for Game Boy type devices, DS and 3DS are still a new territory. In recent months, Ayaneo has shown its DS pocket, an Android double screen pocket computer has done to play DS games. Another portable manufacturer Ayn has also announced its Double Thor screen device. Meanwhile, Retroid has designed its own double -screen complementary module of $ 69 for its pocket computers oriented horizontally to play games with two screens. Nintendo will take its time to launch even more equipment. The company deploys its games over time, so that those who wish to return to the Glory DS days will have to wait for something civil servant.
