Rubio meets Netanyahu to discuss the benefits of Qatar’s strike

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio meets Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem, with the consequences of Israel’s strike in Qatar, which should be raised on the agenda.
Last week’s strike, which targeted Hamas senior leaders in the United States ally, attracted international outrage and was criticized by President Donald Trump.
Rubio said earlier: “Obviously, we are not satisfied. The president was not satisfied. Now, we have to go ahead and understand what comes next.”
The meeting comes as the Arab leaders hold a summit in a demonstration of support in Qatar. Its Prime Minister urged the international community to stop applying “double standard” and punishing Israel.
The state of the Gulf welcomes a major American air base and played a key role in broketing diplomatic efforts to end the war in Gaza, serving as a mediator of the indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel.
Netanyahu told journalists on Sunday that the American-Israeli relationship was as “durable as the stones in the Western wall” while he and Rubio made a short visit to the sacred site in the old town of Jerusalem.
During the visit – on which they were accompanied by the American ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee – Rubio wrote a note and placed it in the wall. The two men ignored the questions of journalists focused on the Israel strike in Qatar.
The Israeli military plans planned to seize the city of Gaza and the continuous expansion of Israel of the colonies in Western West Bank.
During the weekend, the Israeli army continued the demolition of residential buildings in Gaza City, and – according to Israeli media – is now ready to start ground operations in the western neighborhoods of the city.
The Israeli army demanded that residents of the city of Gaza leave and head south in a central area of the strip. He estimated that around 250,000 Palestinians fled, although hundreds of thousands of people remain in the region.
Some residents cannot afford to go south, while others say that southern Gaza is not sure because Israel has also carried out air strikes. Some said they had tried to go south but could not present their tents, then returned to Gaza City.
The meeting is before a meeting of the United Nations General Assembly next week, during which some main American allies – including the United Kingdom, France, Canada, Australia and Belgium – should recognize the state of Palestine.
