The state of the Massachusetts filed a complaint against the Kalshi prediction market platform for having allegedly offered a license-free sports game.

“Sports betting has a significant risk of dependence and financial loss and must be strictly regulated to mitigate the consequences of public health,” said AG Campbell.

“This trial will guarantee that if Kalshi wants to be in the sports games sector in the Massachusetts, they must obtain a license and follow our laws. I am grateful for the current partnership with the Gaming Committee. ”

AG Campbell asks Kalshi to stop all sports betting on the platform while the trial is pending. The trial maintains that the event contracts offered by the platform resemble sports betting, promoted to residents of Massachusetts via television and social media. “Trading” is offered via platforms like Robinhood.

Kalshi did not ask for a Massachusetts de la Massachusetts Gaming Commission sports betting license, as required by law. However, an increasing accent on sport-related contracts has been noticed on the platform in recent months, marked by a partnership with NFL on Fox.

What is the problem with Kalshi’s alleged sports game?
