The star of `The Long Walk ”, Garrett, walking on the surprise of his character

That The long walk is in theaters, the members of its overall distribution are free to talk about spoilers. The film, based on the story of Stephen King, revolves around a literal death march, so it is not surprising that not all stars reach the finish line. Brutal twists and turns come with the order they pass – and at least another surprising nugget shared along the way.

In a new interview with Deadline, Garrett Wareing, who plays Billy Stebbins, spoke of his experiences on the film as well as what happens to his character.

Finally, it was revealed to the public and colleagues in Billy that he is in fact the illegitimate son of the Major (Mark Hamill), the cruel supervisor of the titular march. It puts a difficult front, but it becomes clear that Billy has a different level of investment in competition that other boys.

“His dream, his goal, is to meet his father and for (his father) to be this hero whom he has idolized all his life,” Wareing told Deadline. “I think he is entering walking thinking that it is a necessary thing, it is a good thing. And throughout the course, he starts to see the brutality that exists in something like that. And perhaps he begins to see him for what he is, not necessarily (as) what he presented (to be) these young boys in the nation. ”

In the book, Stebbins is in second place. In the film, it is third, a torsion that allows The long walkThe last poignant moments between Ray (Cooper Hoffman) and Peter (David Jonsson) – and Peter get his feasible part of the price, which kills the major.

There is no happy end for Stebbins and his father, but the articles said how much he liked to work with Hamill. And yes, Star Wars came.
