The alleged killer of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk seemed to take responsibility for the shooting platform Discord, confirmed a company spokesperson.

According to the spokesperson, Tyler Robinson, 22, sent a message to his friends in a discussion on Discord a few hours before being arrested last week in connection with Kirk at an event at Utah Valley University.

“It was me in UVU yesterday. I’m sorry for all of this,” reads an account of an account that would have been belonging to Robinson, according to the spokesperson and a source of application of the law.

Robinson, who has not yet been officially charged, is expected to appear in court on Tuesday.

Arrested for suspected aggravated murder, criminal liberation of a firearm and obstruction of justice, he could face the death penalty.

Discord messages that would come from Robinson have been reported for the first time by the Washington Post and were written and published towards the end of a man hunt for Kirk killer who lasted more than a day.

Charlie Kirk, 31, who was a controversial figure in American policy and an ally of trust by President Donald Trump, spoke on Wednesday at the University of Utah Valley during an outdoor event organized by Turning Point USA – the organization he co -founded – when he was struck on the neck by a single ball.

The murder of the popular social media personality has sparked indignation, democrats and republicans accumulating each other to spread hateful rhetoric and a hunt for his killer. Utah governor Spencer Cox said Robinson had been arrested after admitting Kirk’s murder to his father and was convinced to get back.

Sources of application of the law told CBS News that Robinson and his friends ran to the shooting before his arrest in a group group on Discord involving more than 20 people.

The platform spokesman said that an internal investigation of the company had “no evidence that the suspect had planned this incident or promoted violence against discord”.

Robinson would have been questioned in the group to find out if he was the shooter, that he did not seem to reject, and there were also jokes of a member of the group about him having to avoid McDonald’s, where Luigi Mangione, the alleged killer of the CEO of Unitedhealthcare, Brian Thompson, was arrested.

The messages of the account supposed to belong to Robinson also indicate that he planned to recover.

“I abandon myself by a sheriff friend in a few moments, thank you for all the good moments and laughter, you were all so incredible, thank you all,” we read one.

Cox said Robinson did not cooperate with the authorities, but his roommate was one of those who were.

FBI director Kash Patel, who was criticized about his treatment, told Fox News on Monday in an interview that an SMS exchange had been found on Robinson’s phone in which he “specifically said he had the opportunity to withdraw Charlie Kirk, and he was going to do it”.

Investigators tried to establish a reason for murder.

Cox previously said that Robinson, originally from Utah, was “deeply indoctrinated by left -wing ideology”. The public archives examined by the BBC suggest that Robinson had in the past recorded as a voter not affiliated or non -partisan in Utah. His parents are registered Republicans, according to state files.

However, according to Cox, a family member told investigators that Robinson had become “more political” in recent years and had specifically mentioned Kirk’s imminent visit to Utah Valley University at a dinner.

One of Donald Trump’s main officials, deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, allegedly alleged that there was an organized campaign behind the assassination, but no evidence has been presented so far who suggests that Robinson was working in a group.

He spoke about the Kirk podcast, Charlie Kirk Show, who was hosted by his friend, vice-president JD Vance, in an episode broadcast on Monday.

Investigators also examine the social media accounts used by Robinson, according to CBS, and all the signs that anyone could have known or encouraged filming in advance.

Kirk, a devout Christian, was a fervent supporter of firearms, opposed abortion vehemently, criticized the rights of transgender and homosexuals and promoted false allegations on COVID-19.

His supporters said he was reported, had understood their concerns and had been able to hold respectful debates with those with whom he disagreed.

But his opinions led to a fierce liberal criticism, his detractors calling his deeply offensive comments for certain minority groups, including LGBT people and Muslims.

Turning Point USA, which Kirk co -founded, aimed to spread conservative ideals in liberal American colleges and played a key role in bringing people to vote for Trump and other republican candidates during the election last year.
