Critics for the Apple Watch SE 3, the 11 and Ultra 3 series released today. I am seeing them again. I only have two wrists, and there are three Apple watches to review, so yes. In addition, I have to collect more health data before feeling comfortable giving my permanent socket. If you read criticisms and ask yourself whether or not you have to get one of the new models when they are available this Friday, September 19, I may help you make a decision.

As I said in my Apple watches after the AWE Jawdropping event last week, the trio of new Apple smart watches is a relatively simple refreshment. The three models are available in GPS or GPS +models, are delivered with 5G connectivity (for cell models), have S10 chipsets and include 64 GB of internal storage.

Get the Apple Watch SE 3 if you don’t need the most recent and the best than Apple has to offer on a wrist computer and you only need bases such as excellent health and physical form, a display always activated to say the time (finally), and you don’t want to pay too much. The SE 3 watch is a great value from $ 250. The SE 3 obtains up to 18 hours of battery life with a single load.

Get the Apple Watch Series 11 If you want more bells and whistles like slightly larger and more shiny screens, slightly thinner design, ECG, monitoring blood oxygen (via iPhone application) and a more advanced optical cardiac frequency sensor for a more precise health and fitness monitoring. The 11 Series is also available in titanium, while SE 3 is only available with aluminum cases. The 11 series obtains a longer battery life compared to the 3, up to 24 hours with a single load.

The Apple Watch Ultra 3 is the most fully filled smartwatch that Apple sells. He has everything that the 11 series has, more a bigger display, satellite connectivity (SOS and emergency messages), and the longest battery of any Apple watch at 42 hours with a single load.

All this seems explicit – options for good, better and the best – but if you already have an Apple Watch? Should you upgrade beyond the life of the longer battery? Because let’s be real, if you have your Apple watch for a year and you always use it to follow the training sessions, the battery dies at a faster rate than if you simply use it to say the time and get notifications. In addition, the batteries of Apple watches will not last forever; They will inevitably be kaput one day or simply will not hold a charge over time.

If you are in this boat, you really have to ask yourself: do you care about hypertension notifications and the new sleep score?

Hypertension notifications

Hypertension, also known as chronic arterial hypertension, is a fatal condition which can often cause heart attacks or damage your organs. This is called the “silent killer” because you will generally not see symptoms. This is where hypertension notifications come into play. Functionality received authorization from the FDA on Monday and will be available in more than 150 countries. Series 11 and Ultra 3 can send hypertension notifications using data collected from their optical cardiac sensors, which is then treated via an “algorithm based on automatic learning” designed from studies which included more than 100,000 participants, according to Apple. “Apple Watch examines your heart data and search for models associated with hypertension”, reads the hypertension notifications configuration screen in the Health Application. Apple Watch does not measure blood pressure; He is simply looking for models that can correspond to hypertension victims.

The configuration of hypertension notifications is quite simple, but it is not something that you can shoot the command on your Apple Watch. “The algorithm works passively in the background in review of data over 30 days and will inform users if it detects coherent hypertension signs,” Apple said in a press release. Basically, if you are 22 years old or more and you are not pregnant, there is no reason not to light it. Ideally, you will never get hypertension notification, which indicates that you are a healthy human and that you have nothing to fear. But if you do it, at the very least, you can take preventive care if it is not yet serious. Notifications could potentially save your life.

Sleep score

The other Big Apple Watch functionality that Apple announced last week is the sleep score. This is a feature for the three new Apple watches, including the SE 3. For me, it’s a great Finally moment, As I have long found the follow -up of sleep on Apple watches lacked compared to portable devices made by other companies. Similar to the activity rings, the sleep score is a way to measure three sleep measurements: duration, bedtime and interruptions. These three data is represented in a ring or “donut” as Apple told me (see the photo at the top), and they seem thicker or thinner depending on the way you get each. We then give you a score and one of the five classifications (very low, low, ok, high and excellent). The idea is that, at a glance, you can quickly see how well you slept and potentially make changes to improve one of the three measurements. In a way, it’s almost like the sleep of gamification by cutting you down to improve your sleep score, then maintain it.

I have been an insomniac for a year and, of course, my sleep score ranked “low” last week. Did the sleep score made me ashamed not to have corrected my sleep? 100%. But I am also very gifted to ignore it, even when I know that I have sleep problems. Of course, it’s just me; I also ignore my activity rings more than I should and do not stop when my Apple watch tells me. A few minutes before writing, I saw the notification and I exploded it! By putting my own bad habits aside, the sleep score is carefully designed.

Now let’s come back to the question if you should buy one of the new Apple watches for these two features. If you want the latest and best Apple watches, then, then. But there are very good news! If you have a series of watch 6 or later, SE 2, or ultra and later, you get a free sleep score in the Watchos 26 which has just published them. So check your Apple Watch model and think a little about whether you like these features. You may save a few hundred dollars just by downloading the new update.
