How the speeches of the visit of the state of Donald Trump and King Charles compared

During a state banquet honoring the American president, King Charles and Donald Trump delivered speeches which were a contrast study.
The king and the president spoke each before the banquet on Wednesday at Windsor castle for a similar period and with a similar general tone, largely filled with warm references to the special relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom
Where their speeches most strongly diffracted in their desire to solve current and potentially controversial problems.
More particularly, Charles described the invasion of Ukraine by Russia as “tyranny” and subtly involved that the United States shares the point of view of Great Britain on war.
“In two world wars, we fought together to defeat the forces of tyranny,” said the king. “Today, when tyranny threatens Europe once again, we and our allies we support in favor of Ukraine, to dissuade the assault and ensure peace.”
Trump did not mention Ukraine at all during his speech
American president Donald Trump was welcomed by King Charles and Queen Camilla outside the castle of Windsor, but the demonstrations in the United Kingdom continued as many are opposed to the visit of the State.
The American president, however, used one of his brand lines boasting an economic turnaround under his administration.
“A year ago, we were a very sick country, now we are the hottest country in the world,” said Trump.
State visit as a way to flatter Trump
Charles invited Trump to the state visit to the request of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in February, the United Kingdom in the face of the economic blow of the threatened prices of Trump and Europe wanting the White House against Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Many observers in the United Kingdom and the United States see the visit, with all its pump and ceremony, such as a means of flattering Trump with the external signs of royalty, in order to court it to the British point of view on key questions.
This is why the speeches of the president and the king were underway closely looked at Both for signs of common or division.
The couple exchanged compliments on the history of the other, the elected president praising the British Empire and the hereditary monarch praising American democracy.

“The British Empire has laid the foundations of the law, freedom, freedom of expression and individual rights almost wherever Union Jack has ever stolen,” said Trump.
Charles spoke of his long admiration for “the principles of freedom that your great democracy has represented since its creation”.
He also had warm words for Trump personally on diplomacy, notable since the president frequently claims credit for the end of seven wars since his inauguration of January
“Our countries work together to support crucial diplomatic efforts, in particular, Mr. President, is your own personal commitment to find solutions to some of the most intractable conflicts in the world, in order to guarantee peace,” said Charles.
Protect the “beauty of nature”
The king, who has promoted environmental causes throughout his adult life, spoke of the “precious opportunity to safeguard and restore the wonders and beauty of nature for the following generations”.
Trump did not mention the environment.
Donald Trump and King Charles exchanged speeches during a state banquet in the castle of Windsor, with Trump saying that his second state visit to the United Kingdom was “really one of the highest honors” in his life.
Another notable contrast came in the way in which the pair referred to values in their speeches.
“This relationship which, for reason, we and our predecessors have long called special, has made us safer and stronger through the generations. Our people fought and died together for the values we have dear,” said the king.
While Trump said: “Together, we must defend the exceptional heritage that makes us who we are, and we must continue to defend the values of the people of the English -speaking world.”
The speeches were pronounced while the 160 guests were seated at a table set almost 50 meters long with 1,452 covers, according to the Palace officials.
The Palace and those responsible for the Ministry of Defense have published statements describing various superlatives and first of this state visit: the greatest honor custody of all time, the first performance of the military retirement ceremony beaten during a state visit, and the first time a president of any country obtained a second state visit, after Queen Elizabeth welcomed Trump in 2019.
“He is really one of the highest honors of my life,” said Trump in his speech.
The American president is expected to meet Starmer on Thursday for talks to the Prime Minister’s retirement ladies. The two leaders should then give a joint press conference before Trump stole from Washington.
