Macrons offer “scientific” evidence to prove that Brigitte is a woman, says the lawyer

Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte, plan to present photographic and scientific evidence to an American courtyard to prove that Ms. Macron is a woman.

Their lawyer says that the French president and Ms. Macron will present the documentation in a defamation action that they took against the right -wing influencer Candace Owens after promoting her conviction that Brigitte Macron was born from male.

The lawyers of Ms. Owens responded with a request for rejection of the complaint.

Addressing the Podcast Fame Under Fire of the BBC, the lawyer for macron in the case, Tom Clare, said that Ms. Macron had found the “incredibly overwhelming” claims and that they were a “distraction” for the French president.

“I do not want to suggest that this has somehow thrown him from his game. But as anyone juggles with a career and a family life too, when your family is attacked, that carries you. And he is not immune to that because he is the president of a country,” he said.

Mr. Clare said that there would be “a testimony of experts who will come out which will be scientific in nature” and although he will not reveal, at this stage, his exact nature, he said that the couple was ready to demonstrate fully “both generic and specifically” that allegations are false.

“It is incredibly overwhelming to think that you have to go, advance this type of evidence,” he said.

“It is a process to which it will have to submit in a very public way. But it is ready to do it. It is firmly resolved to do what it takes to set the record straight.

“If this inconvenience and this discomfort she has to open this way is what it takes to put a record and stop this, it is 100% ready to respond to this burden.”

When asked if the macrons would provide photos of pregnant Brigitte and breed his children, Clare said they existed and would be presented to the court where there are rules and standards.

Owens, former commentator of the US Outlet Daily Wire curator who has millions of followers on social networks, has repeatedly promoted her point of view that Brigitte Macron is a man.

In March 2024, she said that she will put her “whole professional reputation” on allegation.

The allegation was born from marginal online spaces for years earlier, in particular through a Youtube 2021 video of French bloggers Amandine Roy and Natacha Rey.

The macrons initially won a defamation case in France against Roy and Rey in 2024, but this decision was canceled on appeal in 2025 for reasons of freedom of expression, and not on the basis of the truth. Macron appeal to the decision.

In July, the macrons filed a complaint against Ms. Owens in the United States. This alleges that it “did not take into account all the credible evidence ref to its complaint in favor of theorists of the known conspiracy and the proven defamations”.

In cases of American defamation against public figures, the complainants are required to prove “real malice” – that the defendant knowingly widespread false information or acted with reckless contempt for the truth.

In August, Emmanuel Macron explained to the French magazine, Paris Match, why they chose to continue a legal action.

“It is a question of defending my honor! Because it is a nonsense. It is someone who knew very well that she had false information and did so in order to cause damage, at the service of an ideology and with links established with far-right leaders.”

The lawyers of Ms. Owens responded to the trial of the macrons with a request for rejection, arguing that the case should not have been filed in Delaware, because it says it does not concern its activities, which are formed in the state. They claim to force him to defend the case in Delaware would cause “substantial financial and operational difficulties”.

The BBC approached Candace Owens’ legal team for a comment. She previously said that she thought what she said was true and that there is nothing more American than freedom of expression and the ability to criticize.
