Three police officers killed during a Pennsylvania shooting, with two other criticisms

Three police officers were killed and two more critically injured in a shooting in the American state of Pennsylvania, while following an investigation “linked to the servant”, said the authorities.

Pennsylvania’s state police commissioner, colonel Christopher Paris, said the shooter was fatally shot down by the police.

The incident occurred just after 2 p.m. local time (6:00 p.m. GMT). Images of the scene showed that a police officer was transported by plane to a medical helicopter.

The shooting forced a nearby school district in Spring Grove, Pennsylvania – a small town of around 2,500 people – to shelter briefly. The district later said that the school had not been assigned.

Officials said there were no active threats to the public.

The shooting occurred in a rural area of ​​the county of York in the canton of North Codorus, about 100 miles (160 km) west of Philadelphia.

The authorities said the officers were on the scene for an investigation that had started the day before.

Police did not share many details because the investigation was underway, said Commissioner Paris.

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro reached the region on Wednesday afternoon and met the families of officers killed, local media reported.

“We mourn for the loss of three precious souls who served this county, served this Commonwealth, served this country,” said Shapiro.

“This kind of violence is not ok, we have to do better as a society.”

Shapiro then ordered that all state flags are lowered to half the hideing in honor of the three officers killed.

All the flags in the state of Pennsylvania will be lowered in all the public buildings and land of the Commonwealth.

FBI director Kash Patel said the agents were on the ground to provide assistance to local and state partners.

“Our prayers are with the officers, their families and the whole community of the county of York,” Patel wrote in a press release.
