A driver providing humanitarian aid by Jordan for Gaza opened fire and killed two Israeli soldiers at Allenby who crossed the West Bank Thursday before being killed by the security forces, authorities of the two nations said.

No group immediately claimed the responsibility of what Israel denounced as a “terrorist attack” in the only gateway for the Palestinians of the West Bank occupied by Israeli in Jordan.

“The driver accused of the operation is Abdul Mutalib al-Qaisi, born in 1968. He is a civilian who began working as a driver providing assistance to Gaza three months ago,” said Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Israel’s ambulance service said the two Israelis, who were not identified, died of their injuries while the attacker was shot down by security personnel.

Jordan said that an investigation would be open, calling a threat to his humanitarian role in Gaza.

Earlier this month, the Palestinian militant group Hamas claimed the responsibility of a shooting on the outskirts of Jerusalem who killed six people.

In September 2024, a Jordan shooter also killed three Israelis in the crossing of Allenby before being killed by security forces.
