See how the “first steps” gave life to Herbie in a properly fantastic way

After extending to film screens this summer, Fantastic Four: First steps Go home next week. To celebrate, Io9 has your first overview of one of the featurets behind the scenes behind the scenes – and it is the unknown hero of the film, the little robot which could, Herbie.

The fifth member of a team that has the word “oven” on his behalf, Herbie was the star of the rupture of First step. The adorable little bot “ worked as the ally of the team of all trades, to help him Ben Grimm in the kitchen for family dinners to offer Reed an important hand or six in his laboratory to take care of the little baby Franklin – even in front of the arrival of Galactus, destructive of worlds!

It is enough to say that Herbie was just as much a member of the first family as Johnny, Reed, Sue or Ben, suitable for the inheritance of the way in which he became in animation and comics all these years ago.

Just as fantastic was how First step has given Herbie to life as a largely practical creation. As you can see in our exclusive look at the featurette “Fantastic Futurism: Herbie” above, Herbie was a product of both very advanced animatronics developed by the team of special effects of the film And Muville practical by actor Jack Parker, who helped to expand herbie’s personality with a human touch.

Fantastic Four: First steps“The home release will include this featurette and two others that go behind the scenes on the development of the film. There will also be deleted scenes, a gag coil and a piece of features from director Matt Shakman and the production designer Kasra Farahani.

Fantastic Four: First steps Numerically released next week on September 23 and on Blu-ray, 4K UHD and DVD on October 14.
