Los Angeles’s comic strip is next week, and one of his big guests is apparently a hologram of the AI of the legend of Marvel Comics Stan Lee.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the hologram will be part of the Stan Lee experience at the LACC. In addition to the standard experienced costs of $ 15 to $ 20 to reach the stand, fans can spend money to take selfies with the hologram or have tête-on-one conversations for three minutes. It was created by Proto Hologram – The company that made an interactive mirror for shopping centers to promote The Conjuring: Last Rites –and the hyperreal virtual production company.

The programs of Stan Lee Lee Head Bob Sabouni have assured that the hologram would say nothing that is “online with things (Lee) has spoken of his life, (leaving us) building a voice that remains true, not always speech for speech, but always faithful in spirit, in context and intention.”

Despite this, this does not detract from the fact that Stan Lee died at the end of 2018 after reports circulated by people in his social circle trying to capitalize on its success of several decades in their own terms in a very strange way. (A source at the time described the whole test as “a fucking mess”, which says everything.) This cannot help falling into this territory, aggravated by the fact that he cannot say no or even being duped by consenting because he could be towards the end of his life – and that is not done in the recent controversies and concerns surrounding the AI and his relationship with the dead.

In a statement to IO9, Chris Demoulin, CEO of the parent company of LACC, Kamikaze Entertainment, said that he had previously worked with Lee in the years 2010 when Lacc had a license agreement with Lee’s Pow! Company, and observed “How Stan liked to interact with fans, to be on panels, tell the story of Marvel and engage the future generations of fans. I met Bob and I threw the idea of working on him to create a Hologram representation of Stan, which could faithfully represent how Stan used to interact with the fans at Cons, including (Nors). ” The hologram has been developing for “several months”, added Demoulin and “has been very high” in recent weeks.

“It is a question of helping to extend the inheritance of Stran – something he himself talked about many of us when he was alive. (…) We know that this hologram is not Stan, and can never be perfect. But we think it is fun, authentic, very exact in terms of how he answers questions, and gives us the fans an overview of who was, in a way (like) an IIRL document. Preserve and extend Stan’s inheritance in the future.

Io9 contacted the Comic Con organizers for any additional comments or clarity on Stan Lee’s hologram and will update if an answer is given. Los Angeles comics takes place from September 26 to 28.

Update (9/20/2025 at 2:30 p.m. HE): This story has been updated with quotes from the CEO of Kamikaze Entertainment, Chris Demoulin.
