Last month, we learned that Zach Cregger had another project in his hands: Acolyte for dc. Once again written and directed by him, the film would play a low level goon that goes up in the world of crime after apparently delete Batman, similar to the Batman: the animated series Episode “The man who killed Batman”.

Acolyte It was just a script at the time, but you can imagine that Cregger could present it once it had free time. Now it seems that we are waiting for a while, because he has said to screen that he would keep him for him for the moment. His reasoning comes down to the growing quantity of Batman projects, which includes The Batman II part And Clay. “I love this script, but Gotham City IP is the most coveted,” he said. “Right now, there are a lot of people who have their own flavor. It is a very crowded playground, and my film, I don’t think it really fits into it.”

Congger assured that he was not extinguished by creative comrades like Matt Reeves and James Gunn. But with as many “obstacles” around Batman at the moment, he will “leave (things) to the universe” before approaching Gunn and DC with Acolyte. Optimically, he called the script “a big story, I think it’s great. When this door opens, I go with pleasure. ” Maybe not waiting for at least two or three years.

Until then, we have Weapons, which recently came to digital and its resident Evil Film on September 18, 2026.
