The American secret services disrupted a network of telecommunications devices that could have closed cellular systems as managers gather for the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The agency said the agency on Tuesday last month, it had found more than 300 SIM servers and 100,000 SIM cards that could have been used for telecommunications attacks in the region including New York, New Jersey and Connecticut games.

“This network had the power to deactivate mobile phone tricks and essentially close the cellular network in New York,” said special agent in charge Matt McCool.

The devices were discovered at less than 35 miles (56 km) from the UN, where leaders meet this week.

McCool said that the “well -organized and well -funded” regime involved “involved national threat and known individuals of the application of federal laws”.

Unidentified actors in the nation state sent quantified messages to organized crime groups, cartels and terrorist organizations, he added.

The equipment was able to send SMS to the entire population of the United States within 12 minutes, according to officials. He may also have disabled mobile phone tricks and launch distributed service denial attacks that could have blocked emergency distribution communications.

The devices were seized in SIM farms in abandonment buildings in more than five sites. Officials did not specify the locations.

The discovery followed an investigation into anonymous “telephone threats” led by three representatives of the US government this spring, anonymous officials in the New York Times said.

One of the civil servants works in the secret services and the other two work in the White House, according to the newspaper.

Investigators also told CBS News that they had found 80 g of cocaine, illegal firearms, computers and phones.

The investigation began after the threats of the US government officials last spring, which led to the discovery of the aircraft last month.

More than 100 world leaders and delegations met in the center of Manhattan for the 80th anniversary of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
