Local television stations refuse to do airline after ABC has raised its suspension

Local television channels say they will not broadcast Jimmy Kimmel Live! Despite ABC, belonging to Disney, bringing back the actor’s late evening show – a week after being suspended for comments on the murder of the conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Nexstar and Sinclair, who are leading dozens of stations affiliated to ABC together, said they would continue to replace the show with regular programming on Tuesday.
“Mr. Kimmel’s remarks were inappropriate and deeply insensitive to a critical moment for our country,” said the vice-president of Sinclair, Jason Smith.
The show of the Liberal actor was withdrawn from the air last week after his monologue on the set of Kirk caused an uproar.
Nextstar, one of the largest owners of television channels in the United States, said on Tuesday in a statement: “We made a decision last week to pre-empt” Jimmy Kimmel Live! “Depending on what ABC called” badly insensitive “comments from Mr. Kimmel at a critical moment in our national speech.
“We support this decision while waiting for the assurance that all parties are determined to promote a respectful and constructive dialogue environment on the markets we serve.”
Earlier Monday, Sinclair said that it would be “would preempt Jimmy Kimmel Live! Through our ABC affiliation stations and replace it with a news programming”.
“Discussions with ABC are underway while we assess the potential performance of the show,” he said in a statement.
Nexstar and Sinclair control more than 20% of ABC affiliated television stations together, according to the New York Times.
Disney, which has the American broadcast network which broadcasts Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Announced on Monday that the show would return.
He declared that he had suspended the show because “some of the comments were badly inculative and therefore insensitive”.
“We spent the last days to have thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after these conversations, we made the decision to return the show on Tuesday,” Disney said.
The suspension of comics intervened after the threats of the federal television regulator to revoke the ABC diffusion permit, triggering a debate on a national scale on freedom of expression.
US President Donald Trump had hosted Kimmel’s suspension and suggested that some television networks should have their “swept” licenses for negative white house coverage.
Police arrested a man on Friday for shooting a weapon in the hall of an ABC News affiliate in Sacramento, California.
Federal prosecutors have found a note in his car saying “are the next ones”, who, investigators, said they were thinking of referring to the Trump administration officials.
