Two 17-year-old boys were arrested for suspicion of “state interference” in the Netherlands, according to prosecutors, in one case with links reported with Russian espionage.

The couple would have been contacted by pro-Russian hackers on the Telegram messaging application, the Dutch media reported.

One of the boys would have exceeded the offices of Europol, Eurojust and the Canadian Embassy to The Hague carrying a “Wi-Fi sniff”-a device designed to identify and intercept Wi-Fi networks.

Teenagers appeared before a judge on Thursday, who ordered a boy to be in detention and the other on strict bail conditions until a hearing should take place in the following two weeks.

One of the boy’s father told the Dutch telegraaf newspaper that the police arrested his son on Monday afternoon when he was doing his homework.

He said the police told him that the arrest concerned spying and rendering services to a foreign country, reports the newspaper.

The teenager was described as a computer warned and fascinated the piracy, while occupying part -time employment in a supermarket.
