Arteta says that Arsenal has a “ great belief ” this season while the artillerymen seek to avoid another campaign without trophy

The writing in his program notes before Wednesday’s friendly match against Villarreal, Arteta expressed his confidence in the improved depth of the team.

“These newcomers all add quality and depth to the team, which we will need throughout the coming season.

“We know what our goals are and what we want to achieve this season – there is a great belief in our ability to achieve it.

“We have been very, very close in recent seasons and the whole team will determine whether we are succeeding or not.

“But at the same time, we must make sure that we do not lose sight of what we have to do daily to reach the levels we want.

“We must set the requirements we want with this goal, because it is the most important thing – internal requests must always exceed any external request. This is what we are trying to make every day.”

Arsenal has finished as a premier league finalists in each of the last three seasons.

With the assembly of expectations, Arteta stressed that success will require more than simple performance in the field – this will take full support from the fans base.

“We have to do it all together, with you, our supporters too.

“This is another reason why these two home games are so important. Let us show this energy from the first moment.

“We want our people to start connecting with our players right away, to start getting momentum and starting to feel that at home, we are invincible – that we play here with such passion, energy and connection with our people, that we will win the game.”
