The Sinclair Broadcast Group announced on Friday that it will restore Jimmy Kimmel Live! On his ABC affiliates after a one -week ban on the late evening show.

Sinclair, which has local ABC stations across the United States, was one of the two major networks to make Kimmel’s program following the actor’s controversial comments on Charlie Kirk’s death.

The broadcast giant said that the decision was made after “thoughtful comments from viewers, advertisers and community leaders”.

Kimmel returned to the air Tuesday after a brief suspension by ABC, affirming in his opening monologue that his comments were perhaps badly informed.

“I never intended to shed light on the murder of a young man,” he said.

By lifting the electricity breakdown, the viewers of Sinclair in cities like Washington, DC, St Louis and Seattle can now watch Kimmel’s show again.

Sinclair said that in a press release, its discussions with ABC and the parent company Disney are “underway and constructive”. The media conglomerate said he had suggested measures to promote “responsibility” within Disney.

None of these measures has yet been adopted, he said.

What happened?

Kimmel landed in hot water after its September 15 monologue on the death of Kirk, Kirk.

He said that US President Donald Trump and his allies were desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as something other than one of them “and trying to” score political points “.

He also compared Trump’s reaction to the murder of the influencer “how a four -year -old child cries a goldfish”.

The president of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Brendan Carr, who was appointed by Trump, threatened to revoke the ABC diffusion permit during an interview with a conservative podcast.

After Carr’s comments, two broadcasting companies, Sinclair and Nexstar Media Group, said they would stop the program on their dozens of ABC affiliates.

ABC then completely removed the air show.

This has triggered debates on a national level on freedom of expression, including online trends of people canceling their Disney +subscriptions.

Kimmel’s return

Disney announced on Monday that Kimmel would return to the air, but Sinclair and Nexstar argued that they would not broadcast him.

His return show scored record notes on Tuesday, with 6.26 million people who watch him live despite a quarter of the ABC stations did not broadcast it.

Kimmel expressed his regret about his previous joke about Kirk, but also continued Trump and Carr for what he called the “crowd” censorship tactics.

“Our chef famous that people lose their livelihoods because he cannot take a joke,” said Kimmel, adding that Trump openly waving people to lose their jobs were “non -American” and “dangerous”.

Trump was openly disappointed with Kimmel’s reinstatement.

“I cannot believe that the false news ABC has given Jimmy Kimmel his work to Jimmy Kimmy,” he wrote in an article on social networks.
