At least 11 dead while the typhoon sweeps Vietnam

Typhoon Bualoi killed at least 11 people and damaged or destroyed hundreds of houses in the center and north of Vietnam, reported the state media.

Dozens are missing or injured after the typhoon touched earth Sunday evening, flooding roads, washing the bridges and tearing the buildings before weakening and moving to the neighboring Laos.

Bualoi has already killed more than 20 people in the Philippines since Friday.

This is the last storm to beat the region with powerful winds and rain. Last week, Super Typhoon Ragasa, the largest storm in 2025, killed at least 28 people in the North of the Philippines and Taiwan before touching Earth in Hong Kong and China.

Typhoon Bualoi has wrapped winds of 117 km / h (73 MPH) when he touched the landing in the center of Vietnam – although by Laos, his maximum wind speed has weakened at 74 km / h (46 MPH), reported Reuters, citing the Vietnam Meteorological Agency.

The rescuers are looking for 17 fishermen who are among the missing after their boats were affected by huge waves. Nearly 30,000 people were evacuated to Vietnam in anticipation of the typhoon, local media reported.

Dozens of flights have been delayed or canceled during the weekend.

“I stayed awake overnight, fearing that the door would be removed by strong winds,” a province told Rghe a resident in Nghe, a province.

The typhoon should bring 200 to 350 mm of rain in northern Vietnam between Sunday and Tuesday, reported the state media. In some parts of the country, precipitation could reach 500 mm.

The authorities urged residents to stay inside. Vietnamese Prime Minister Phan Minh Chinh has issued urgent instructions to intensify rescue and rescue efforts, state media reported.

Last week, Typhon Ragasa hit the earth in southern China, where nearly two million people were evacuated. The typhoon, which caused strong floods and landslides, killed 14 people in Taiwan after a barrier lake overwhelmed.

He left the same number of deaths in the Philippines, where the officials said that Bualoi’s overall assessment, Ragasa and another tropical storm in September had increased to 26.

Climate change has exacerbated extreme time, typhoons becoming stronger and more frequent.
