OPENAI deploys Chatgpt capacity to buy stuff for you

Openai just made it possible to buy things directly from Chatgpt.

From today, all chatgpt users in the United States can use a new feature called Instant Checkout to buy items from Etsy Sellers without leaving the cat. Openai says that more than a million Shopify traders, including Glossier, Skims and Spanx, arrive soon.

For the moment, instant payment only supports purchases to a single element, but Openai plans to add multi-element trolleys and extend to more merchants and regions.

The company also announced that it was opening the technology that feeds the instantable cash register, the agency commercial protocol. Developed with the payment processor strip, the protocol is intended to serve as a standard for AI -focused purchases and facilitate the integration of their stores into the integration of their stores.

This movement puts at a step of its biggest objective to create an entirely functional AI agent. The industry as a whole rushes to launch so-called AI agents, virtual assistants who can theoretically manage tasks such as reporting, travel booking, online purchases and appointments.

Last week, Openai deployed Chatgpt Pulse, which conducts relevant research for users and connects to their emails, calendars and other applications to deliver a daily morning briefing. And in January, the company unveiled the operator OPENAI, a tool that can fill out the forms online and place orders in itself – although buyers must still enter payment information at the cashier.

But one thing becomes clear as the age of AI agents is approaching: they will need to access many of our personal data to function properly, if they work at all.

How does instant payment work

Many chatgpt users are already turning to the chatbot for online purchase recommendations.

Now, when a user asks something like “gift ideas for writing households” or “best running shoes at less than $ 100”, products that support instant payment have an option “Buy”. Users who draw on “buy” will then confirm their order, their shipping and their payment details directly in the cat. Those who have a chatgpt subscription can pay with the card already in the folder or choose another payment method.

The seller then manages the order, shipping and realization as they would normally. Chatgpt acts simply as an intermediary, providing the seller with the buyer’s information.

The service is free for users, but sellers will have to pay a low amount on finished purchases. OPENAI also indicates that the elements supporting the Instant Caisse will not be preferred in the results of the products and will not have an impact on its recommendations generally.

However, when the sellers’ classification of the same product, “if instant payment is activated” will be considered “optimizing the user experience”.
