Haptics Schmaptics, it’s always the best mouse

There is no “perfect” mouse. Even MX Master 4 in the long term of Logitech and its proven mixture of shape and function will not be everything that everyone. A mouse is simply a computer controller, who should have enough switches and buttons at the age of. The oldest MX Master Souris had most of what any budding professional concerned about productivity needed. The new Master 4 of $ 120 has an additional feature with a haptic button that could offer an additional option bonus. If you already have your necessary keyboard shortcuts engraved in your brain like the ten sculpted slate commandments, you will find the rumble in your fully useless thumb.
Logitech MX Master 4
There are not so many real improvements, and the action wheel may not be all that, but the MX Master 4 is an excellent successor to the best-supplied wireless work mouse.
- Excellent ergonomic feeling
- HAPTIC SATIFYING
- Free and side scroll wheels
- Works on almost everything
- The action wheel has surprising use cases
- Not enough applications for the action wheel
- No compartment for the bolts receiver
- Bigger and heavier than ever
Logitech’s “perfect” mouse design did not need to change. If you are a proud user of a Logitech MX Master 3 or 3S (they sold $ 100 in 2023), and you have not worn the silicone thumbers with your affections, you don’t need another mouse. Again, the new MX Master 4 is so kind, so precise, and so rich in functionality, I cannot think of another mouse with which I prefer to drag my cursor. The smooth operation on my desk, combined with almost silent clicks and the magnetic aluminum scrolling wheel in turn, seems as satisfactory as ever. You just can’t expect real upgrades of this mouse. Even with haptic and software features, the MX Master 4 will always be such a thick and heavy companion that he will rarely leave your office.
The same MX master you know

There are some minimum visual design modifications to differentiate the MX Master 4 from the MX Master 3S. Logitech dragged the left and right click under the scrolling wheel. This slightly moves the “shift wheel mode” button slightly downwards, which goes from a wheel in turn to something more traditional. There is also a new transparent plastic ring around the twin click buttons. There are three additional programmable side buttons and the beautiful lateral scrolling wheel which is practical for spreadsheets and video editing. The thumb shelf exceeds more compared to previous generations, which makes the MX Master 4 even larger than the MX Master 3, two years old, even if they are almost equivalent in stature. There is a strange thing about the revised design. I used a MacBook Pro, and the height of the mouse was just enough for the left click button to be seated exactly at the height of the open laptop. This would stop click, leading to a strange moment of confusion. You cannot call it a defect, exactly, but just a small thing to note given how it works with the average Mac.

The MX Master 4 is a heavy mouse at 150 g, and heavier than the previous version, although it drives as smooth as a buttered chicken on a water slide on most surfaces. Like the previous iterations, the mouse does not have the length beggar compartment for the Bolt USB-C receiver. Ignoring the ways in which Logitech could have improved the global design, it feels ergonomic in a way that is not completely as extreme as a complete vertical mouse. Your hand slides in its shape with the cup inch in the cradle of the new textured silicone which is doubled the new Haptics button.
Logitech did not want to improve basic specifications to attract buyers. Indeed, the company has not strengthened the voting rate – how often the mouse communicates with the computer – or DPI, the points per inch which measure precision, compared to the MX Master 3S. The MX Master 4 is blocked at a maximum survey rate of 125 Hz – whether you use Bluetooth or the USB -C Dongle Logitech – and 8,000 DPIs respectable. The DPI dictates how much the mouse follows the different surfaces well, and the MX Master 4 regularly proves that it is good for everything, mouse pads with wood and even glass. This survey rate turns out compared to specific game mice designed for the most precise experience. For example, the next G Pro X2 Game Mouse Superstrike in Logitech with its haptic click is based on a survey rate sensor of 8,000 Hz. Can you always use the MX Master 4 for the game? It is a much heavier mouse than any specific game controller, and it is difficult to exclaim “boom, head shooting” when your mouse clicks are as silent as the grave, but you do.
I have a ribbon in my tip

Instead of determining the usual mouse upgrades of better voting or DPI, Logitech focused mainly on new haptics in its new high -end mouse. The button has a capacitive sensor which does not depress physically, even if it has the impression that you press it. You will now feel a small rumble, according to your settings. Your thumb can tremble if you move the cursor between two screens, for example. Haptics believe the most important change of control. Logitech hopes you will use the new software functionality called Action Ring. If you press the haptic button with your thumb, you can smile on a ring full of customizable actions. On a Mac, by default, the ring evokes options for a Finder window, a shortcut to capture the page on which you are or create a note, or invoke AI chatbots (because Logitech always thinks that mice need an AI button like its M750).
To customize the ring, you must dig in the Logi Options +application. The interface is minimal and clean. Here you can also define the level of haptics from minimum to thumb milk. This is where you can activate several different profiles for the action ring. Logitech includes a configuration for Photoshop (it is activated for other Adobe applications like Lightroom and Premiere), zoom, and more. You can consult the apps on your device and configure shortcuts for these applications, or simply create yours. Each action on the ring can also contain several files, in case you wish to bury specific actions of your mouse.

I can see how it is useful, although in the weeks I spent using the mouse for work, I never hit the action ring until I tried to operate with external applications. In my daily version, I have all the keyboard shortcuts necessary on Pat. When I type a new criticism or put my text back on Gizmodo.com, I do not first jump on my mouse, at least most of the time. What is the jet lag between dragging the cursor to the MAC’s home station to open Finder compared to hitting a button, then clicking on the shortcut?
However, if you use an application with more boring controls, it can be particularly practical. The Logi market is currently hosting 39 applications for specific application controls, although most of them are Adobe applications. You cannot make a lot of use of the action ring on Spotify or Apple Music, unless you want to take a break or play without opening the application first. Take discord, for example – the audio input or micro exchange is boring to access in the best of cases, and have this accessible from the MX Master 4 can be incredibly practical. We will have to wait more applications available in the store to show what the functionality is entirely capable.
Built

Logitech claims that the MX Master 4 has an optimized antenna placement which results in better connectivity, but the mouse will still not work outside the usual beach of 30 feet for Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz connections. The MX Master 4 compensates for an “easy switching” button at the bottom of the mouse. You can combine it with up to three devices and press the button to exchange between them. This means that you could have it twinned with your phone (it is compatible with iPados, iOS and Android) and two computers. Press the exchange of the exchanges between each device. The Logi Options + application also allows you to see which peripherals are paired. Easy Switch was already a positive brand for the MX Master 3S, but it is even better thanks to the action ring, which allows you to exchange between the devices without turning the mouse on its back.
The battery life among high -end mice is already to the point where most of us will not connect our devices for months. The MX Master 4 promises a 70 -day battery life. I have used the mouse for three weeks, almost every day in the office, and I was unable to travel his battery just at that time. He got out of the box to just over 50%, and when I finished writing my review, he was stuck in 45%. Even if the mouse is short of juice, the MX Master 4 supports a fast load with up to 70% of 3 hours of load, or up to three hours of use from one minute of load.
I will not stop using the MX Master 4 anytime soon, although it is because I did not already have the MX Master 3 or 3 at home. Logitech did not spend time putting real physical material improvements in its new mouse. Unless you have a very specific use case for the action wheel, you will be perfectly maintained with your old MX Master Mouse Working MX. Instead, if you want the best wireless mouse and you are tired of your old crisp work, it’s easily the best – always perfect or not.
