The director of Tottenham Hotspur, Thomas Frank, congratulated the “mentality and character” of his team after spending two goals to grasp a point of their clash in the Champions League with Bodo / Glimt on Tuesday.

In what was a largely unconvincing performance of the Spurs inside the Circle Artic, a Jens Hauge brace in the second half gave Bodo a deserved advance before Micky Van de Ven and a Jostein Gundersen of Jostein Gundersen late on the North match for the North Londoners.

It comes only three days after another fight to the Spurs, when a stopping time of Joao Palhinha earned the Frank team a point against the Wolves in the Premier League.

And this resilience is a feature that Frank quickly highlighted after the match in Norway.

The Spurs boss said: “The positive is the mentality and the character of the players was very good. (We) stayed in the game, we continued to fight and that gave us a very good point when you are 2-0, far from home in the Champions League, especially against a Bodo team which is very good here.

“So I’m happy that we are returned to the game, I think it’s very positive.

“I think it’s just to say that 2-0 Bodo was better than us. We know that they are exceptionally good in what they do. They are very well trained, it was clear to see.

“But after 2-0, I felt that we were the best team of the last part of the match.”

When he was asked for reasons for the disappointing display of his team, Frank refused to be trained in a debate on Bodo’s artificial surface, but rather reprimanded him to a bad day in the office and insisted that he was satisfied with the points of the Champions League of Spurs so far.

“That’s what it is,” said Frank. “I think we could have kept the ball better, without a doubt.

“It is extremely important to show this mentality and continue to run and fight hard.

“I think four points of the two games are good. It’s a good start and we have to work from here. ”

Tottenham is currently fourth in the Champions League table. They then went to Monaco on October 22, but first have Premier League matches against Leeds United and Aston Villa.
