I just fought my path through a crowd of journalists, creators and influencers with a wide -eyed eyes during the event of the great Amazon devices which takes place today to caress the new Kindle Colorsoft scribe with Color E Ink Display. Amazon’s hardware chief, Panos Panay – brought the surface of Microsoft in this world – leads to one thing or two on the manufacture of large tablets and styles for them, and during the opening of Amazon, he described several times how the writing experience was on several occasions. So, does color make a difference?

As always, these are just my first impressions and it is not a review of the Kindle Scribe Colordoft. I will not be able to examine it until the electronic reader Color launches “later this year”. However, I have some first reflections on the material, the display of colors and the writing / drawing experience.

The material has all the fingerprints of Panay everywhere. While the Kindle 2024 scribe was more a minor refreshment, the Kindle Colordeft scribe (and the non -color version with and without light before, of which I will speak a little) is a complete overhaul. At 5.4 mm, it is thinner than the 5.65 mm iPhone air and just imperceptibly thicker than the 13 mm 13 mm iPad Pro and the 11 mm iPad Pro 11 mm with M4 chips. I have not tried tests beyond a light flexion, but the Kindle Colordeft scribe seemed rigid enough to resist accidental joined if he is buried under the sofa.

It is also significantly lighter than the Kindle 2024: 400g scribe against 433g. This is something you need to feel in person to understand the difference in weight. It is also something that is important for a device that you can hold in one hand because your other is rolled around the stylus.

The Scribe Scribe Colorsoft is shorter but wider than the Kindle 2024 scribe. You may have noticed that the glasses around the ENK E screen are all symmetrical; One side is no longer thicker than the other. Depending on how you prefer to keep your electronic readers, you will like that the thick telescope is gone or hate it because you no longer have as much space to rest your thumb. The two colors – graphite and figure – seem well. But I miss the metallic jade color.

Amazon and Panay threw a shop of technological jargon as a “custom oxide display” and were heavy on the superlatives in colors that the ink screen could produce. In reality, the colors are more silent than you find on an iPad or an Android tablet with an OLED or LCD screen. The 10 “pen colors”, “5 highlights” and “Shader tool for subtle gradients” are more pastel than vibrant. They are easy for the eyes, but some people may feel a little dull. If you have seen the ordinary Kindle Colorsoft, you will know what to expect in terms of color reproduction.

It is also subtle, but the 11 -inch display on the scribe colorsoft scribe was much larger than that of 10.2 inches in the non -color 2024 model. A 0.8 -inch diagonal bump may not seem much on paper, but it is more spacious when you take the “Premium Pen” stylus included and start writing or scoring on the screen.

So, is the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft and Premium combo like writing on paper? I wouldn’t say it. Do not get me wrong, the stylus is very responsive and the digital ink comes out of the point without the visible latency, what I could say, but the ink screen has not the kind of resistance or scratching of a real pen or pencil on paper. The display is still too smooth. It is not at all harm at all, and it is better for kilometers than to slide a rubber tip on a glass iPad screen, but Paper pro and remakeable paper move feels a little closer to the paper if you ask me. But we really share the hair here. As long as there is no discrepancy for writing, highlighting and drawing – once again, there were not in my brief demo – the note note experience is not at all hampered.

There are things that I could not have an idea: the weeks of battery life, storage (32 GB or 64 GB), the import of Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive documents for markup, export of notebooks to Microsoft OneNote, etc. – But the main arguments for the sale of equipment all seem to be improved. I will really have to compare it to the remarkable Paper Pro because they both cost $ 630.

The cheaper and less interesting kindle scribe with and without light before is exactly as if they ring. One has a light before you can turn on and deactivate, and the other does not do so, which means that you cannot use it in the dark. They have the same specifications as the Colordoft scribe, only the ink screen is in black and white. You can see that the two models have a white telescope compared to the colorsoft scribe. If you are not interested in the color of your Kindle scribe, these are fine.

From a few minutes of play, the equipment seems solid. What remains to be seen is whether consumers can support prices. The Kindle Scribe Colorsoft costs $ 630 (32 GB) and $ 680 (64 GB). The Kindle scribe with front light costs $ 500 (32 GB) and $ 550 (64 GB). The Kindle scribe without light front costs $ 430. All Kindle 2025 scribes are delivered with a superior quality pen in the box.
