The general management of the game in Spain (DGOJ) described the plans to improve the protections of players thanks to centralized surveillance controls.

These will be integrated into the digital requirements of Spanish online gaming licenses. It comes after the DGOJ has renewed its certification with the services and agencies of the Spanish government. The plan is part of a larger project to deploy a centralized surveillance system to follow the activity of players in the industry.

Since 2022, Spanish game licensees have themselves have self-managed deposit limits, at a limit of € 600 per day. As part of the new system, the DGOJ will be able to check each customer deposit in accordance with individual licenses. These will be set at € 600 per day, € 1,500 per week and € 3,000 per month.

Although the system has not yet been tested, the DGOJ believes that it will allow customers to more easily reduce individual limits, perhaps with new self-limitation tools. License holders, or operators, will have to remind customers their right to limit deposits and time spent on platforms each time they connect.

Game user protection in Spain

Following a more in -depth examination of Spanish game regulations earlier in the year, this last proposal is part of the last DGOJ push to better protect consumers from Spanish games. It is accompanied by the launch of a new scheme of federal self-exclusion for those who risk damage and plans related to the game for an AI algorithm to draw 60 variables which could indicate a higher risk.

The AI program will be able to follow the models in real time linked to problematic play behavior and allow operators to intervene in dangerous models early, as well as to offer those who need to have access to the treatment they need. These measures, combined with the planned centralized system, are supposed to better protect Spanish players.
