Nottingham Forest against Midtjylland Match Overview

The first European home game by Nottingham Forest since 1996 is also a chance for the new Ange Postcoglou manager to rely on the best result of his reign so far on day 2 of the 2025/26 Europa League.

Postcoglou lost three and pulled one of his domestic matches since he took care of September 9, but guided his new team to a 2-2 draw in Real Betis on September 24, recovering from late to lead 62 minutes.

“We got a point in a really difficult place and that prepares us well for this match,” said Postcoglou, who won the competition last season with Tottenham.

“You have to do well in your home matches and win a maximum of points, especially when each outdoor match is delicate.

“(Midtjylland) have a style distinct from their game – very direct, strong with the sets … regardless of who is the manager. It will be a difficult game, that’s for sure.

“There are things that we know that they will bring to the party, but it is up to us to fight this and to ensure – especially because we are at home – that we impose ourselves.”

The Australian talks about the experience because his Celtic side faced Midtjylland in qualifying in the Champions League in July 2021, taking the lead in both legs but losing 3-2 to the permission of a graciousness of the 94th minute.

Second in Denmark last season, the Wolves won five and attracted one of their European matches on their way to qualify before beating the Austrian champions Régnants Sturm Graz 2-0 in their first League match.

“You never know when it will be the right time to face it,” said manager Mike Tullberg. “It will be their first home game in Europe for almost 30 years and there will certainly be a special atmosphere.

“We have won our last four games, we are in a good place and we think we are ready to make a good performance.

“Their wingers are good on-one, whatever playing. The same goes for their attackers. But we are ready to take up the challenge. ”

Midfielder Philip Billing has an impressive record against Forest since his time with Bournemouth and Huddersfield Town, recording three goals and a decisive step in nine games, as well as five victories and only one defeat.

“This is not what I did before, although it was great,” said the 29 -year -old player. “It’s a great stadium … It will be a large backdrop.

“I think we have the quality in this team to surprise.”
