‘V / h / s / Halloween’ is horrible and fun but not a new series the best

It had to happen: with the current V / H / S Production schedule bringing us a new entry each year since 2021, the level of quality was going to move. While V / H / S / Halloween Offers a few memorable moments of splash, the film overall does not remove the summits of last year V / H / S / Beyond or 2023 V / H / S / 85.
Part of this can be due to the theming of the holidays, which is intelligent and has a lot of narrative meaning, because of course, people will total cameras, capturing costumes, decorations, pranks, haunted houses, ghost hunting and other reasons for the season. It also offers a fun reminder at the very first V / H / S Liberation, which contained the very chaotic radio -chaotic silence “31/10/98” – a edifying story over always checking the address before walking in the bad party.
But the emphasis on specific holidays allows a notable repetition through V / H / S / Halloween Segments. It is possible that he has planned to have several cases where children who are clearly too old to go and who are who decide that they want candy anyway-then regret it in various terrible ways-but it always looks a bit like “this?” When it happens again.
Overall, most segments are called like the trembling cam with classic found feet; V / H / S proved that he is able to innovate beyond the technique of “filming the frightened person” (think V / H / S / 85“Dreamkill”, which has pushed the limits of the genre with bizarre creativity), but Halloween Paste quite closely to what has been done before.

The history of the framework, the satirical “diet” of Bryan M. Ferguson, documents the discussion groups to test a soda with a special additive harvested in the world of minds. We do not know what is the objective or the ultimate motivation of the company; There is no Halloween III: witch season– Explanation of style involving Stonehenge and masks that explode the heads – although to be clear, the heads TO DO explode. It’s just “consuming and being condemned”. (The commercial of Phantasma Diet Thriking, which comes after we have seen its demonic effects, is a nice touch.)
Then, “Coachie Cochie Coo” by Anna Zlokovic offers the first of these warnings against the Tour or the treatment when you have clearly aged them. His really painful horrors (two words: Adult babies) Sneakily incorporate the idea of dreading to kiss adulthood, because two friends realize too late, they should have kicked by literally doing something else to commemorate their last Halloween before leaving at university.
Paco Plaza, the co-creator of the series of Spanish zombie films Harvest– one of the most acclaimed franchises in Found Footage- Next adds “Ut supra sic infra” (“as above, so below”), that V / H / S / Halloween The segment that would make an intriguing feature film was the story to extend. It is a group of children who sneak in the old spiritual room of a famous medium in Halloween – and the cops which go a few days later, accompanied by the only survivor, to rebuild the horrible and inexplicable massacre that happened. This implies a haunted phone that competes with the levels of flipper of The black phone—Deded by “Dreamkill” Helmer Scott Derrickson, by the way.
“Fun size”, by Casper Kelly (Your pretty face goes in hell, too many cooks)Again, reminds us that there is an age cut for the thing or the treatment, although it also brings together serious consequences to violate a sign “one per person” stuck in a bowl without supervised porch candy. Having two characters whose Halloween costumes are “camera operators in a found horror film” is perhaps a little too meta, but the “fun size” compensates for its familiar features with a joyfully disgusting gore and an energetic tone that borders a pure hysteria.
Less successful is “Kidprint”, by Alex Ross Perry (Its smell, listen to Philip)which compresses a child’s layout in an abduction in a segment that feels both subcuits and dark.

V / H / S / Halloween Ends with a high note with the “hant hant” joyfully sinister, directed by Micheline Pitt-Norman and BH Norman, about a suburban father who takes his haunted house on the backyard at extremes, the annoyance of his teenage son-and, hilarious, legendary artist of special effects Rick Baker, who is as a neighbor of shit. If you only want to look at a V / H / S / Halloween Segment to enter the spirit of the frightening season, “Home Haunt” will certainly scratch this itching.
V / H / S / Halloween knocks on October 3.
