Hopes and fears in Gaza and Israel for a potential ceasefire

The Israelis and the Palestinians seem both full of hope and distrustful that the peace agreement proposed by President Trump earlier this week could lead to a cease-fire.
The American chief said that he thought Hamas was “ready for lasting peace” and urged Israel to “stop the bombing of Gaza”, but in the early hours of today, three air strikes hit the Gaza strip.
Hamas said that it would release all the remaining Israeli hostages in Gaza, but had asked for new negotiations on a number of questions described in the plan.
He also did not address the key aspects of it – including the requests for his disarmament and his withdrawal of a role in the governance of Gaza.
