The Israel security firm will meet Thursday to decide to order a complete military control of the Gaza Strip – a UN decision said would risk “catastrophic consequences”.

According to Israeli media, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu considers this as the only way to destroy Hamas and free hostages still held by the group after the breakdown of cease-fire talks.

The reports indicate, however, that the chief of the army and certain ministers do not agree, in the midst of warnings of such a decision could be disastrous for hostages and Palestinian civilians.

The senior UN official, Miroslav Jenča, told the United Nations Security Council earlier this week that he would be contrary to international law and was a “deeply alarming” perspective.

The Israeli army currently controls approximately three -quarters of Gaza. The vast majority of the population of Gaza has already been moved by the war and many others would be uprooted if the army resumed the remaining areas.

The security firm for the best ministers of the government should meet at 6:00 p.m. local time (3:00 p.m. GMT) on Thursday.

According to Israeli media, tens of thousands of Israeli soldiers are expected to be sent to Gaza to take control.

The reports indicate that the plan initially focuses on the total control of Gaza City, relocating its million residents further south. Forces would also take control of refugee camps in the center of Gaza and areas where hostages are considered to be held.

The reports indicate that a second offensive would follow weeks later in parallel with a boost of humanitarian aid.

The American ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee told Fox News that there would be a significant scale of the distribution sites operated by the Gaza Humaninian Foundation (GHF) supported by the United States and the United States.

The GHF was strongly criticized by the UN and the aid agencies, which accused it of being chaotic and forced the hungry Palestinians to browse long distances in perilous conditions to try to obtain food.

Hundreds have been shot in or around the four sites managed by GHF since it started operating in May. The Ministry of Health managed by Hamas and witnesses accused Israeli forces of being responsible. Israeli defense forces (FDI) denied having targeted civilians, saying that the soldiers had drawn warning plans to maintain the crowd or in response to threats.

War has created a humanitarian disaster in Gaza, most of which say that sustained experts are at the point of famine in terms of food consumption. The territory also knows mass deprivation following strong restrictions imposed by Israel with what is authorized – something that says aims to weaken Hamas.

Netanyahu would have decided in recent days on the conquest of Gaza, increasing tensions with military leaders.

During a meeting with Netanyahu on Tuesday, the FDI staff chief Eyal Zamir would have warned that Gaza’s control could trap the troops and put the hostages more in danger. He would have presented an alternative plan involving remaining bastions of the remaining Hamas rather than a complete occupation.

The Israeli media claim that, despite some reluctance, the security firm should approve Netanyahu’s plan.

The families of the hostages reacted with alarm, fearing that such a decision would pushed their captives to kill them.

US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that Gaza’s care was “really up to Israel”. The United States has publicized in indirect cease-fire talks between Israel and Hamas for months, but negotiations broke down two weeks ago.

The war began after Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, killing around 1,200 people and bringing 251 to Gaza in hostages. Israel launched a massive military offensive in response, which killed at least 61,158 Palestinians, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health.
