The turkey earthquake reviewed the buildings of the province of Balikesir


A person died in Türkiye after a 6.1 magnitude earthquake hit the northwest province of Balikesir on Sunday evening.
An 81 -year -old woman died shortly after being removed from the rubble in the city of Sindirgi, who was the epicenter of the earthquake, said the Minister of the Interior in Türkiye.
Sixteen buildings collapsed following the tremors and 29 people had been injured, added Ali Yerlikaya.
The disaster management agency in Türkiye said that the earthquake had been recorded around 7:53 p.m. local time (4:53 p.m. GMT) and felt as far as ittanbul.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan published a declaration wishing to re -recovery to all those who have been affected and said all the restoration efforts were closely monitored.
“May God protect our country from all kinds of disaster,” he wrote on X.
Research and rescue operations have now concluded, and the Minister of the Interior said that there was no other sign of serious damage or victims.
The images of Sindirgi, however, show large completely flattened and imposing buildings of twisted metal and debris.


Turkey is located at the intersection of three major tectonic plates and has frequent seismic activities accordingly.
In February 2023, more than 50,000 people were killed when an earthquake of amplitude of 7.8 devastated the southeast region of the country.
5,000 others were killed in neighboring Syria.
More than two years after this earthquake, hundreds of thousands of people remain moved.
