The draw for the 2025/26 edition of the Europa League will plan the first eight games while the teams in all Europe have offered Tottenham as champions.

The Spurs defeated Manchester United 1-0 in the 2024/25 final to win the competition for the second time, the seven triumphs of Seville doing the Spanish team from the most successful team in the history of the Europa League by far.

The Spanish clubs open the way with 14 reigning victories, with England and Italy, the next on 10, while Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest aim to add another from the Premier League this season.

When is the draw for the Europa League?

The draw will take place on Thursday August 29 – One day after the end of the qualifiers to decide the last teams to qualify.

The print schedules have not yet been confirmed in early July.

The draw will be displayed live and free of charge on UEFA.com, as well as on the UEFA YouTube channel and the BBC Sport website and iplayer.

TNT SPORTS will also broadcast the draw via Discovery + and Youtube.

Europa League format

In a change compared to the previous group phase held until 2023/24, each team now has eight games in the league phase, all against different opponents.

Four of these matches will be at home and four, the opponents determined according to four sowing pots divided by classification.

The teams will play two opponents of each of these pots – one against a team from each pot at home and one outside. The results decide on the overall ranking of a league.

The first eight sides of the table automatically qualify for the final of 16. The teams finishing from ninth to 24th will participate in elimination in the Knockout on two legs to reach the last 16.

The teams finishing 25th or less are outside Europe for the season.

The new league phase takes place until the end of January, with the playoffs in February and the rest of the scene with direct elimination before the final between March and early May.

The final will take place on May 20, 2025 at the Besiktas stadium at 16 times Turkish champions Besiktas.
