US President Donald Trump said he would try to recover a territory for Ukraine during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday.

“Russia has occupied a large part of Ukraine. They occupied a primary territory. We will try to recover part of this territory for Ukraine,” he said at a press conference.

Trump said that talks in Alaska would be a “sensation meeting” to urge Putin to end the war, and that there would be “exchanges, changes in earth”.

It is not the first time that he has used the expression “exchange of land”, although it is not clear what land Russia could yield to Ukraine. Kyiv has never claimed Russian territories.

Trump said he would update European leaders if Putin offers a “good agreement” during talks, adding that he would first speak to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky “off respect”.

“I’m going to call him first … I will call her afterwards, and I can say:” A lot of luck, keep fighting “, or I can say:” We can conclude an agreement “”, he said.

Trump also said that even if Zelensky “gets along”, he “is not very disagreeing with what he did.” Trump previously blamed Zelensky for the war in Ukraine, which was launched by the country’s large -scale invasion of the country in February 2022.

Last Friday, the American president announced the meeting with Putin-the day of his self-imposed deadline for Russia to accept a cease-fire or faces more American sanctions.

In response to the news of the Alaska summit, Zelensky said that any kyiv’s without contribution agreement would be equivalent to “dead decisions”.
