Accusations against an American influencer and a pilot teenager who have been blocked on an island remote in Antarctic since June have been abandoned.

Ethan Guo, 19, would have illegally landed his plane on Chilean territory after having undertaken a solo trip to the seven continents to collect funds for cancer research, according to local authorities.

They accused him of providing information on the flight flights to managers who owned him and opened an investigation.

A judge ordered him to leave the region, to pay a donation of $ 30,000 (£ 22,332) to a children’s cancer foundation and is forbidden to return to Chilean territory for three years.

Mr. Guo made the headlines last year when he started to become the youngest person to fly solo towards the seven continents and to collect donations for research on children’s cancer.

Having already visited six of the seven continents, in June, he piloted his small Cessna 182q plane in the city of Punta Arenas, near the southern point of Chile, to King George Island off the Atlantic coast, which is claimed by Chile and appointed according to King George III of the United Kingdom.

It was placed in police custody after landing on the island, which houses a number of international research stations and their staff.

The authorities said he had submitted a plan to fly over Punta Arenas, but not beyond that, according to CBS News, the American BBC partner.

He was charged on June 29 for alleging false information to the ground control and landing without authorization, but these were abandoned by a judge on Monday.

“I stay in Antarctica while waiting for the approval of my departure flight,” Guo told the Associated Press (AP) news agency after the judge’s decision on Monday. “I sincerely hope they will give it to me soon so that I and my plane can continue with my original mission.”

Mr. Guo has stayed in a military base on the island for six weeks, reported AP. He was told that he could travel to other parts of Chile, but because of the icy temperatures could not leave the island, he added.

Mr. Guo hopes to become the first pilot to finish solo flights on the seven continents of the Cessna plane, and already spent 140 days in the air during his travels.

He decided to collect funds for cancer research after his cousin was diagnosed with cancer.

It aims to collect $ 1 million for cancer research in St Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
