The former woman-woman in South Korea arrested in a corruption probe

The wife of the former president of South Korea, Yoon Suk Yeol, was arrested for a series of accusations, including the manipulation of actions and corruption.
Former First Lady Kim Keon Hee denied all the charges during a four -hour hearing in Seoul on Tuesday. But the court has issued a detention mandate, citing the risk of destroying evidence.
South Korea has a history of former presidents charged and imprisoned. However, it is the first time that the former president and the former first lady have been imprisoned.
Yoon was detained in January to face a trial for a failed offer of martial law last year which plunged the country into chaos and finally led to its eternal.
Prosecutors claim that Kim, 52, has won more than 800 million won ($ 577,940; £ 428,000) by participating in a sampling program involving Deutsch Motors actions, a BMW dealer in South Korea.
Although this happened before her husband was elected the head of the country, he continued to throw a shadow throughout his presidency.
She would also have accepted two Chanel bags and a diamond necklace as a bribes of the controversial unification church in exchange for commercial favors.
Among other accusations, Kim is also accused of mingling candidate appointments in the parliamentary partial elections in 2022 and the general elections of last year.
Kim appeared solemn as she attended the Tuesday hearing a black suit and a black skirt.
“I sincerely apologize for having caused trouble despite an unimportant person,” she told journalists.
While he was president, Yoon vetoed three bills led by the opposition who asked for a special advisory investigation into allegations against Kim.
He delivered the last veto in November, a week before declaring martial law.
A special council was created in June of this year after the Yoon’s rival, Lee Jae Myung, became president.
