An American teenager is currently stuck in Antarctica after illegally landing his monomotor plane on Chilean territory.

Ethan Guo, 19, who was navigating a trip around the world when he landed at the southernmost pole in the world, has been stuck in the icy region since June, according to the Associated Press. At landing, local officials accused Guo of providing them with “false information on the flight plan” and landing without authorization. Since then, he stayed in a military base as he expects the movement on the case, writes AP.

Unlike the exploits of many other influencers, the coup de Guo seems to have involved a noble goal: the young American wants to become the youngest person to fly to the seven continents, while collecting donations for research on infant cancer along the way. The adolescent’s “flight against cancer” has hitherto raised $ 131,000, according to the St. Jude fund collection page associated with the effort. Guo said he hoped to collect more than a million dollars, which will go to St. Jude’s children’s hospital.

On Monday, the accusations against Guo were abandoned as part of an agreement between his lawyers and the prosecutors of Chile, written on. To avoid a trial, the agreement requires Guo to give $ 30,000 to a children’s children’s foundation within 30 days, the point of sale indicates. He must also leave the country as soon as the conditions allow, and he must not return to Chile for a period of three years. Gizmodo contacted Guo via his Instagram to comment.

As he blocked, Guo had already finished a large part of his trip, after crossing six of the world’s continents, reports the BBC.

According to Guo fundraising, he initially began to learn to fly at the age of 13. He then became interested in breaking the world record so that the youngest person steals towards the seven continents. “Unfortunately, my cousin, who is the same age as me, has developed Hodgkin’s lymphoma from stadium 4. As a young man, I looked at the disease affecting people closest to me, like my grandparents and aunts, little by little,” Guo wrote. “Since then, I decided to do what I could for research on cancer. In order to collect funds for international research and awareness, I decided that by beating the file, I could attract the attention necessary to influence and help as many people as possible who suffer from the disease. ”

It is not known when Guo returns to the United States, he said that when he is released, he hopes to continue his trip around the world. “I stay in Antarctica while waiting for the approval of my departure flight,” the teenager told the Associated Press on Monday. “I sincerely hope they will give it to me soon so that I and my plane can continue with my original mission.”
