Dutch politicians join Canadian extradity calls behind the IA notorious porn site

Politicians from a second European country call for the extradition of the Canadian man behind a notorious and pornographic website which presented deep images and videos of celebrities, politicians and private.

Members of three Dutch political parties – the VVDGroenlinks-PVDA and Boerburger-Bewegin (BBB) plan to submit a written request so that David Do extradited for his involvement on the MDEEPFAKES website, The announcement of the Dutch newspaper was reported for the first time.

“People like this must be punished … They have no idea of the damage they make,” Caroline Van der Plas, head of the BBB, at CBC News told.

“For me, I feel like I was digitally raped,” said Van der Plas. “Many people know that it’s Deepfake but many people are so ignorant … and maybe they think it’s real. It’s horrible.”

In the Netherlands, it is illegal to create, own or distribute Deepfake porn.

“(Our Minister of Justice) promised me that he was going to take measures to see if Mr. Do could be extradited,” she said.

In May, the Danish deputy Søren Søndergaard asked her The Minister of Justice of the country for the extradition of do. The MRDEEPFAKES site has also had victims of Denmark.

Canada has extradition treaties with the two countries, which claim that it can accept to extradite someone if their alleged act is a crime here and in the applicant country. Deepfake porn is not yet prohibited in Canada, but the DO may be extradited on the grounds that it may have violated the existing laws on harassment or defamation.

DO has not been accused of a crime in Canada. He did not respond to calls for comments.

Prime Minister Mark Carney promised during the spring electoral campaign he would work for the production of non -consensual pornographic deepfakes to be criminalized.

The Ministry of Justice would not say if he had conversations with the Netherlands or Denmark in extradition.

“Extradition requests are confidential state communications to the state,” he said in a statement.

A spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s office told CBC News in May that the adoption of a law criminalizing non-consensual Deepfakes is a priority.

“Our government will protect victims of sexual violence,” said the spokesman. “This will also increase sanctions for the distribution of intimate images without consent and sexual assault against the summary conviction.”

At its peak, MRDEEPFAKES, recorded more than 650,000 Users and videos presented Canadians such as Michael Bublé, Justin Trudeau and Avril Lavigne. The content had attracted more than two billion views since its creation in 2018.

Do was dismissed from his work in Oak Valley Health as a hospital pharmacist at the hospital in Markham Stouffville and the Uxbridge hospital in mid-May.

Ontario’s college of pharmacists says that it was investigating the alleged driving of Do, but would not provide additional details due to confidentiality.
