Ashwin’s explanation of the economy “under the table” of the IPL

Ashwin has not framed the problem as a singular body but as a symptom of a broader problem in the rules of the league. He explained the negotiation power of players as Brevis, who include their high market value. According to Ashwin, when a player is approached for a mid-season replacement, they and his agents may require more than the official basic price using its future value as a lever effect.

Ashwin has developed this concept, declaring, “What is happening is that you are talking to the agents and that the player will say that if you give me an additional amount, I will come. It happens because the player knows if he is released next season, he will go for good money. So, his concept was that, you pay me well now, otherwise I will go for more next year. And CSK was ready to pay it, so he came.”
