Mali invoices ex-PM Moussa Mara with state sapper in x post

A former Prime Minister of Mali, who is now under military domination, has been accused of having undermined the state’s credibility for comments on social networks.

After a visit to prison to see opposition figures held in July, Moussa Mara said on X her “unshakable solidarity with prisoners of conscience”.

Mara, who has been a Prime Minister for nine months ten years ago, was a recent frank critic of the military government.

The junta, in power since kicks in 2020 and 2021, dissolved all political parties in May after rare anti -government demonstrations.

Thursday, Mara was detained and questioned for the second time by the National Cybercrime Unit about her post of July 4 X.

In the post, the former bonus minister said that his regular visits to see the detained persons should make sure that “the flame of hope has never been”.

“As long as the night lasts, the sun is inevitably rising! And we will fight by all means to get there, and as soon as possible!” He added.

The prosecutor of the cybercrime unit said that speaking of “prisoners of conscience” and saying that he wanted to fight for them constituted an offense, reports radio France International.

Friday, as well as the accusation of undermining the credibility of the state, it was also accused of the legitimate opposing authority and incentive to the public disorders.

He must be tried on September 29.

A month ago, military leader Gen Assimi Goïta obtained a five -year presidential mandate by the transitional parliament, which is renewable without election.

The 41 -year -old man, who took power twice, was appointed transition president after the 2021 coup.

At the time, he promised to hold elections the following year – but has since denied, in a stroke of effort to restore the multi -party rule in the West African state.
