In what seems to be a dumpster fire of a labor market at the start of a career for Gen Z – filled with ghost jobs and AI – Sam Altman agents said that it was actually “the most exciting moment to start his career, perhaps never”.

“I think that (a) 25 years old in Mumbai can probably do more than any previous 25 -year -old player in history,” said Altman in an episode of the People by wTf Podcast with Nikhil Kamath.

“I felt the same thing when I was 25 years old, and the tools were not as incredible as the tools we have now … A 25 -year -old child could then do things that no 25 -year -old man could have happened, and now it happens in a huge way.”

But Gen Z does not know the same exciting labor market as described by Altman. The entry -level positions decrease for ambitious and fresh graduates, as employers expect recruits to be fully qualified. Chatgpt and AI agents take up the beginner skills of junior employees that Gen Zers uses to launch their trip to the business scale, and the dream of winning a six -digit technological job after the college becomes a distant reality. Some Gen Zers even seek their first jobs at Chipotle.

Following the surge of tuition fees and a labor market in white collar, the situation of Gen Z is so disastrous that 4.3 million young people are now: not in education, employment or training.

Altman even says that he is sending Gen Z career options today

Even if many young job seekers are desperate, the chief of technology said he was enchanted for young people because his jobs at the start of his career will seem “boring” in comparison. Compared, he said, generation Z will explore the solar system and will lock jobs with high-level wages.

“If I was 22 years old at the moment and I graduated, I would feel like the luckiest kid in the whole story,” he added.

The billionaire co -founder compared the current AI revolution to the way computers have changed the world of work when he grew up.

“People are now only limited by the quality and creativity of their ideas,” said the CEO of Openai, adding that AI progress transforms programming, accelerate scientific discovery and allow new types of software.

But still, on a labor market where the first level of the scale disappears thanks to the AI, the optimism of Altman recalls that the success of Gen Z will be determined by the way in which they integrate the tools in their next role.

The distribution of technological founders on AI

Altman is not the only one in his optimism about AI. The co -founder of the billionaire Microsoft Bill Gates said that using AI to improve productivity in the workplace could open more jobs in the future, although there is a career “dislocation” for entry level graduates.

In addition, the CEO of AMD, Lisa Su, does not believe that AI does not cause massive job losses, but admits that anxiety around technology innovation is a natural feeling.

On the other hand, other heads of technology warned against the threat of AI for entry -level roles and on the labor market of white passes. The CEO of Anthropic, Dario Amodei, said that the AI could destroy around 50% of all the work of entry -level collar within five years, which increases unemployment that can increase by 20%.

Linkedin’s chief of economic opportunities, Anneesh Raman, also echoed this feeling. Raman said the AI was increasingly threatening the types of jobs that have historically served springboard for young workers who just start their careers.

“While the technology sector feels the first waves of change, reflecting the mass adoption of AI in this area, the erosion of traditional entry-level tasks should also be played in areas like finance, travel, food and professional services,” he said.
