Pope welcomed by a large crowd to Catholic Youth Event

Hundreds of thousands of young Catholics went to the Tor Vergata field on the outskirts of Rome, for a vigil and an evening mass celebrated by Pope Leo XIV.

The first American pope arrived by helicopter, before boarding the Open Popemobile, while the pilgrims applauded and waved flags to welcome him.

During last week, young Catholics around the world arrived in Rome for a special jubilee celebration, during a holy year during which 32 million people should go down to the Vatican for a secular pilgrimage.
