Diaz reveals a Wirtz conversation before passing Bayern from Liverpool

Luis Diaz says that his passage from Liverpool to Bayern Munich was a “big bet”, but the Colombian striker has already had an instant impact in Germany after finding the net during his first official appearance.
The 28 -year -old joined Bayern in a transfer of 65.5 million pounds Sterling last month, ending a successful spell in Anfield where he played a key role in the Liverpool winning campaign last season.
According to information, Diaz first expressed the desire to leave Liverpool in the summer of 2024, but the club resisted at the time while examining both its team and market options.
Two cycles of contractual talks – where the parties could not fill the gap between offers and requests – finally led Liverpool to accept his departure this year.
On Saturday, Díaz marked his debut in competition in style, marking in the Bayern 2-1 victory against Stuttgart in the DFL-Supercup.
“I am very happy and satisfied with the way this weekend took place,” said Diaz. “As you pointed out, it was my first official match, my first goal and my first title. I dreamed of coming here to achieve great things and give the best of my best. I try to enjoy football.
“It was a big bet and I am very grateful for management to have contacted me and trust me. It’s always up to me to answer on the ground and contribute to what I can do. Be available to coach staff. Starting this way and being with my teammates is incredible. ”
The striker also revealed that he had spoken to the former teammate of Liverpool, Florian Wirtz, of the Bundesliga before moving.
“I already had some knowledge of the Bundesliga. I love to look at football and all the competitions. I had the opportunity to speak to Florian in Liverpool, and I know it’s a physical league. I hope to make big beginnings. I have been here at the club for about two weeks and I need time to settle down. ”
Diaz’s celebration bore additional emotions as he dedicated his goal to Diogo Jota, who tragically died in a car accident alongside his brother, Andre Silva last month.
Thinking about the loss, he said: “It’s brutal. The fact that he is no longer with us and that we have lost an incredible teammate is incredible. No one is ready to receive this kind of news and feel good about a situation like this.
“He was a great teammate for me. We will remember him with emotion. He will live in our memories, and to be able to devote the goal to him is something special. I had planned to do it. “
