Alexander Isak finally broke his silence on his future in Newcastle, claiming that “confidence is lost” and that he “cannot continue” at the club in the middle of the sustained interest of Liverpool.

In a press release published on Instagram, Isak, which was elected in the male team of the Association of Professional Footballers (PFA) of the season since 2024/25, but has not been part of the pre-season or the start of the new Magpies campaign, said that the promises were broken and that “the change is in the best interest of all”.

The press release said: “First and foremost, I would like to thank my teammates and everyone in Newcastle United who supported me along the way.

“I’m not at the ceremony tonight. With everything that happens, I didn’t feel good to be there.

He said: “I am proud to be recognized by my professional colleagues with a place in the PFA Premier League team of the season for 2024/25.

“I have been silent for a long time while others spoke. This silence allowed people to push their own version of the events, even if they know that this does not reflect what has really been said and agreed behind closed doors.

“The reality is that promises have been made and that the club has known my position for a long time. Acting now as if these emerging problems are misleading.

“When the promises are broken and confidence is lost, the relationship cannot continue. This is where things are for me right now – and why change is in the best interest of everyone, not only myself. ”

Liverpool was strongly linked to the Swedish striker this summer. The Reds saw an additional offer of 110 million pounds sterling, rejected by Newcastle in early August.

The 25 -year -old scored 23 goals in 34 Premier League appearances the last mandate while Eddie Howe’s men finished fifth to qualify for the Champions League.

The last mandate also saw the club put an end to a expectation of 70 years for a major trophy when they raised the Carabao Cup, Isak marking a 2-1 victory on Liverpool in the final at Wembley.
