We now know everything on the first Xbox pocket computer (except the most important thing)

The Asus Rog Xbox Ally is a bite of a name for a device, and yet I cannot stop saying the name – as I throw a spell – as we slide later towards the end of the year. At Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, Microsoft and Asus give players a chance to wrap their mittens around the strange Xbox controller type handles of the Xbox ally and the Xbox X ally. While companies will tell you when you can finally choose a store shelf, they are not quite ready to tell you how much it will cost.
The Rog Xbox Ally and Rog Xbox Ally X should be published on October 16 in the United States, Europe and other markets in Asia. We will not know how much it will cost and when we can pre -order one before “in the coming weeks,” Asus said in a press release. Gamescom participants will be the first to try the new Xbox-IIDI version of Windows 11, which should facilitate the task that Microsoft’s regular OS ‘to launch games on the Xbox application and via third-party launchers like Steam and Epic Games Store. The laptop is effectively double in the basic version of Windows 11 if you need to access all the applications that you cannot in the new Xbox menu. Microsoft is also working on a “portable compatibility program”, such as Valve steam checked badges. Xbox will be labeled if a game is “portable optimized”, which means that it works with the arrangement of the default controller, or “mainly compatible”, which will require some adjustments.

The ROG XBOX ally is the low -end starter pocket computer compared to the more robust specifications of the Xbox X ally. The one in white is filled with an AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor. On the basis of the specifications alone, the chip seems closest to supplying a steam bridge. It is a 4-hearted chip and 8 threads based on the Zen 2 microarchitecture of AMD, which the flea manufacturer launched in 2019. It works on eight GPU cores of DNA 2, which should be sufficient for the vast majority of smaller games and some AAA titles on lower graphic settings. It is always delivered with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of integrated storage.
The Xbox Ally X is the one filled with Ryzen Z2 Extreme of AMD. This APU, or accelerated processing unit, has 8 cores and 16 threads based on the last architecture of the Zen 5 processor from AMD. The chip is filled with 16 DNA GPU cores 3.5 – although this is not the last DNA 4 – 32 GB next to RAM and 1 TB of storage. Like the Asus Rog Ally X from 2024, it contains an 80Wh battery which should improve the overall playing time, depending on your performance settings. Microsoft has also suggested that the Xbox Ally X will use Microsoft’s automatic super resolution for AI scaling on the device to improve performance. The Xbox and Ally X ally contain a 7 -inch LCD screen. Microsoft said that one or the other pocket computer should receive future updates that will allow faster launch and better battery life, as well as “Improvements of the Home Experience” which suggest that the Xbox ally will work better connected to a monitor or to a television.
There are a few reasons why you should worry that neither Microsoft nor Asus wish to drop the bomb which is pricing. We caught a hint of so -called Xbox ally prices for European customers in July. The Xbox ally was set at 600 euros, or $ 700, while the Xbox X ally requested 900 euros, or $ 1,050. These are prices similar to Rog Ally and Rog Ally X today in the EU, so these leaks may not be equivalent to what American customers can expect to pay. The prices have already wreaked havoc on the PC supply chains and led manufacturers to increase prices. Without any official notice, Asus increased prices on its ROG Ally X from $ 900 to $ 1,000 a few months after President Donald Trump announced world prices.
Optimists will examine delayed pricing and Hope Microsoft will lead to a way to subsidize what will be its first new game equipment for years, even if it simply has the Xbox brand. If the Xbox Ally X is really as expensive as the other laptops, this would make it a high -end product for which only the most ardent PC players would be ready to hunt their funds. He will have to compete with the pocket computers to come like the Lenovo Legion Go 2 which has a better OLED screen compared to the LCD screen of the Ally. The Xbox ally must be, at the very least, as inexpensive as an OLED basic steam bridge at $ 550 or the Lenovo Legion at $ 600 Go S if Asus and Xbox want a chance to make a complaint in the still emerging portable scene.
