Controversy broke out in Germany as to whether a trans right extremist should serve a prison sentence in a woman or men’s establishment.

In July 2023, Marla-Svenja Liebich was sentenced by the district court of Halle de Saxon-Anhalt to a total of one year and six months in prison without parole for an extremely straight incentive to hatred, defamation and insult.

Liebich called on his sentence and lost.

At the time, she was known as Sven Liebich. German media reports say Liebich was a member of a neonazi group called Blood and Honor.

At the end of 2024, Liebich passed his gender entry into the official files of the man to the woman. She also changed her first name.

The basis of this was the law on the self -determination of Germany, which had just entered into force and strengthening the rights of transgender persons. The law allows people to modify their gender marker and their first name through a simple declaration in a register office, instead of a judicial decision.

The German media wondered if the change of Liebich was serious.

“That the change is serious, is doubtful,” wrote Der Spiegel. “Liebich has been known for years for his right -wing extremist opinions and has also made queerphobic statements in the past.”

Liebich brought legal action against the media for what she considers false representations of her gender identity.

A complaint against Spiegel to the press council was rejected unanimously by the council as unfounded. Spiegel said the letter said it was likely that Liebich “has changed civil status abusive in order to provoke and embarrass the state.”

Liebich wants to start his prison sentence soon.

The chief prosecutor of Halle, Dennis Cernota, told the German public broadcaster MDR in Saxony-Anhalt that Liebich would serve his prison sentence in the prison of women of Chemnitz.

Liebich confirmed it in an article on X. “I’m going to start my prison sentence as planned,” she said. “On August 29, 2025, at 10 p.m., I will arrive at Chemnitz’s correctional establishment with my suitcases.”

A decision on the place where Liebich will then be made at the start of the incarceration. The chief prosecutor said that the prison administration would decide if Liebich could constitute a threat to security and order, which could lead his transfer to another prison.

Meanwhile, the German media reports that Liebich recently lost another case, against journalist Julian Reichelt at the Berlin Regional Court.

Reichelt, editor -in -chief of Nius, published on X in July: “Anyone who follows reports on neonazi Sven Liebich can only come to a conclusion: the government’s coalition government has managed, by law, to force almost the entire German media landscape to say to wicks and make the false complaints. Sven Liebich is not a woman.”

Die Welt said that the second civil chamber of the court decided to reject Liebich’s request for a preliminary injunction, saying that it was not founded.
