Yougov asked people how they interact with their intelligent assistants like Alexa of Amazon (upgraded to Alexa + AI propelled by AI earlier this year), the Google assistant (recently transformed into a more conversational assistant with the help of Google’s Gemini AI), and Siri d’Apple (still stupid, but they work) now that they have increased their AI. The answer: they give assistants the most basic tasks and not much else.
According to the survey, 59% of people use their smart assistant to check the weather, 51% use it to play music, 47% ask him to search for questions and 40% use it to define alarms and timer. In particular, these are all things that these devices could do functionally more than a decade ago when they started to go to our phones and in our homes via smart speakers.
As for the most advanced features that companies would absolutely like users to adopt, real interest is still not there. Only 19% of people use their AI assistant to control the devices connected to the Internet in their home (RIP on the Internet of Things). Less than one in 10 people interact with third-party actions like Alexa Skills, which was supposed to look like an application shop for smart speakers, but has never made its way.
To the great dismay of the suzerains of the company who provide these assistants, only 14% of people shop via their AI aid. Purchases supported by AI assistants should be an industry of $ 30 billion over the next decade. Let’s go difficult, quite reasonably!
